We're going on a bear hunt PMLD session!

In May Half Term, Little Miracles ran a sensory story session for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This session really focused on bringing out the sensory aspect of the well-loved story "We're going on a bear hunt"!

Ava and her friends were guided by the fabulous childcare worker, Sasha, who led them through the thick oozy mud, a deep cold river, a swirling snowstorm, a big dark forest, long wavy grass and finally a narrow gloomy cave!

The children scooped up, smelt and felt chocolate gloop, put their feet in cold, blue water beads, felt the softness of large white pom-poms, had a snowball fight, smelt and touched pinecones, wild garlic and acorns, played with shiny, metallic green pom-poms and hid under a blanket with torches!

The session was a huge hit, with Ava making friends and desperately asking when she can come back for another story!

For Ava and I, these sessions are incredible. They are so fun and manic, but more importantly, Ava's needs are thoroughly thought off, meaning the benefit to her was incredible. Turns out, a water bead foot spa is a thing and fantastic for her very sensitive feet!
