Little Miracles speaks to ITV News about changes to National Insurance

The charity sector says rises in National Insurance payments for employers will cost it more than £1 billion, as ITV News Consumer Editor Chris Choi reports.

There are new warnings of charity shop closures and good causes having to cut vital services.

The sector says rises in National Insurance will cost it more than a billion pounds. The chancellor has told them she’s faced tough choices, but the latest charity appeal is to the government.

Research from 400 charities by Charity Finance Group, which was given to ITV News, says 87% are now concerned about being able to afford the higher National Insurance.

Samira Najim, who receives support from a charity, said: "These facilities rely on fundraising and it just puts them in a terrible position and we really don't want to lose or see any cuts to this service."

Michelle King, CEO of Little Miracles Charity, which helps 50,000 families that have children with life-limiting disabilities, told ITV News: “It is going to cost us a minimum of £24,000... we’re a small local charity with about 670 volunteers so to find an extra £24,000 is so hard and we’re doing all we can to avoid cutting services."
