One of our newest branch leads, Kate Brewer, explains what our Nottinghamshire branch got up to in February half-term and how both children and their families benefitted from being supported by Little Miracles.
Today, the BBC reports that more than 100 families looking after severely disabled adults and children outside hospital, have told the BBC that the NHS is failing to provide enough vital support.
Many got in touch after a BBC report about a mother left on her own for long periods to care for her son.
The NHS says help is based on individual needs and government guidelines, ensuring consistency.
However, some families describe the system as adversarial.
CambsNews.co.uk report on the influence that Little Miracles had over a bid to fund a new Changing Places toilet facility at tghe Imperial War Museum at Duxford.
"A Peterborough charity that supports families that have children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions, is being credited with a £120,000 ‘Changing Places’ specialist toilet at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.
The museum approached South Cambridgeshire District Council who secured £120,000 of funding from the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, as part of £30 million earmarked by the government to increase the number of Changing Places toilets across the country.
The new facilities at Duxford provide extra space and specialist equipment for visitors with profound or multiple disabilities"
The Freemasons of Peterborough were proud to present a cheque for £10,000 to Little Miracles in January which will help families of children with life-limiting conditions.

Just before Christmas we were lucky enough to receive a visit from representatives of Winners Chapel International Peterborough, who not only donated an incredible £1,000 but also sang Christmas songs with our children, families and staff!
Peterborough branch had an incredible time watching 'The Wizard of Oz' at the panto last night!
We booed, cheered, sang and danced for hours, everyone had the most magical time and some even got their photos with the cast!
BSH Recycling have partnered with renowned local street artist Nathan ‘Nyces’ Murdoch to elevate the simple skip, turning them into important pieces of community art.
The ‘Skip Art with Community Heart’ initiative will not only be highlighting impactful messages that resonate with local people, but the skip shaped canvases will also actively support local charities and sports & community groups. This support will include donations from BSH Recycling themselves, through to raising the profile of an incredible range of community enterprises.
Whilst Christmas can be a magical time for some people, it can also be one of the most challenging times of the year for others. Nathan has created two masterpieces that showcase the valuable work and important seasonal messages.

I went down to witness Nathan from Street Art Hire design and spray paint it; it was rather incredible to watch him in action. It was amazing to meet the BSH Recycling team and learn more about their commitment to the community”
We are very happy to announce that we are the Cambridshire Council for Voluntary Service's 2023 photo competition Judge's Choice winners.
The story behind the photo is that too many families in the UK live every day with feelings of isolation, exclusion, judgement, stress and anxiety because the world around us is not set-up to help our children live life to their full potential.
Children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions need a place to play, laugh and create friendships. At Little Miracles we provide this environment for children whilst their families access the advice, support and care they deserve.

Jess and her family have been coming to Little Miracles for many years.
This week, for Children in Need 2023, Jess spoke to BBC Radio 2 about what the incredible support she gets from our charity means to them.
Children in Need currently fund one of our childcare team and we are extremely grateful to them for the ongoing support they have given to us over the last 10 years.

On 11th November 2023 we hosted our Masquerade Ball with the aim of helping hundreds of families with children who have life-limiting conditions.
Having a child with a life-limiting condition can be an incredibly lonely, scary journey but throughout the evening we celebrated the lives of those children and together we raised nearly £11,500!
On the 15th October 2023, 15 brave souls laced-up their running shoes and competed in the Great Eastern Run, all while raising money for Little Miracles and the families we support who have children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions.
And what a day! The sun shone, the crowds were incredible and there was some wonderful feedback about the breathtaking views of the cathedral on the new route around the city.
Altogether our runners raised over £5,000, an amazing amount of money which will help us to be here for our families when they need us most. Click here to read the BBC Online report about the event which includes an interview with Stefano, one of our runners and families.
